Mad Men

1. Omg Don Drapper. Holy cow.

2. This quote struck me right on the sternum. Addresses things I've been thinking about lately.

"You're competing with Pete Campbell. Not personally, but for the world."

I have my own personal Pete Campbell. Someone insecure and annoying who probably just needs some reassurance, but somehow gets under my skin. I feel like she represents everything that's wrong with things. Someone who seems to epitomize the idea that enough narcissism will launch your career way further than an equal amount of hard work these days. It's not just that. There's a feminist tirade there I'm too tired to articulate right now. Someday I might. For now I'm happy to think for myself as I did for Don Drapper: let it go. You'll never win. But you won't loose either. It's not for you to defend the world against them. And it's not for me to defend womanhood against my own Petra.
